Which Schools Serve Bluffdale, Utah?

Bluffdale is a small city with a surprisingly tangled answer to a simple question. Every home in the city is assigned to the same middle school and the same high school. But three different elementary schools serve Bluffdale, one of them is not in Bluffdale, the only high school building inside the city limits is a charter, and there are more charter campuses in town than district schools.

I mapped this against Jordan School District’s own 2026-27 attendance-area data rather than working from other people’s pages, and checked every point against the state’s municipal boundary so I knew which answers belonged to genuinely Bluffdale addresses. Here is what it actually looks like.

The Schools That Serve Bluffdale

The short answer

Elementary: Bluffdale Elementary (K-6), 14323 S 2700 West, Bluffdale · Mountain Point Elementary (K-6), 15345 S Puma Mountain Way, Bluffdale · Riverton Elementary (K-6), 13150 S 1830 West, Riverton, for the far northeast corner only.

Middle: Hidden Valley Middle School (7-9), 15410 S Harmon Day Drive, Bluffdale — all of Bluffdale.

High: Riverton High School (10-12), 12476 S Silverwolf Way, Riverton — all of Bluffdale.

Three elementary schools, not two

Almost every page written about Bluffdale schools names two elementaries. There is a third.

Bluffdale Elementary (K-6, 14323 South 2700 West) covers the west and northwest of the city. It runs a Portuguese Dual Language Immersion program that students enter in first grade, one of very few in the state.

Mountain Point Elementary (K-6, 15345 South Puma Mountain Way) covers the east side and the entire south end. It opened in August 2019.

Riverton Elementary (K-6, 13150 South 1830 West, Riverton) serves a pocket of far-northeast Bluffdale, roughly north of 14000 South between about 800 and 1450 West. The school’s own published boundary reads “students living between the Jordan River and 2300 West from 12600 South to Bangerter Highway,” and Bangerter’s south end runs through Bluffdale’s northern edge. If you are buying in that corner, your elementary school is in Riverton.

The line between Bluffdale Elementary and Mountain Point is worth knowing too, because it is not straight. North of about 14550 South it sits well east of Redwood Road, around 600 to 900 West. South of 14600 South it jumps to the west side of Redwood Road, roughly 1900 to 2200 West. Everything south of about 15650 South is Mountain Point.

Boundaries move. Check your specific address with the district before you write an offer.

One Middle School and One High School, for the Whole City

Hidden Valley Middle School (7-9, 15410 South Harmon Day Drive) serves every address in Bluffdale without exception. It opened in fall 2020 and enrolled 935 students in 2024-25.

Riverton High School (10-12, 12476 South Silverwolf Way, Riverton) serves every address in Bluffdale too. When I tested roughly 7,200 points across the Salt Lake County part of the city, 7,150 came back Riverton High. The handful that did not were isolated slivers on the far western city line, where Herriman’s Mountain Ridge boundary laps a few dozen feet over the edge. For any practical purpose, Bluffdale has one high school.

Riverton High sits on a 52-acre campus about a 10 to 15 minute drive from most of Bluffdale, and enrolled 2,295 students in 2024-25. It also serves most of Riverton and a small eastern slice of Herriman, but all of Bluffdale. If you are comparing Bluffdale against Riverton itself, Riverton School Boundaries — how the same high school boundary breaks up on the Riverton side of the line.

Ninth grade is middle school here

This one catches families moving from Sandy, Draper or Cottonwood Heights. Those cities are in Canyons School District, which runs K-5 elementary, 6-8 middle and 9-12 high school. Bluffdale is in Jordan School District: K-6, 7-9, 10-12.

A ninth grader moving from Draper to Bluffdale goes from high school back to middle school. Worth knowing before you move a teenager.

Charters, the County Line and How to Check Your Address

Does Bluffdale have its own high school?

Yes and no, and the distinction matters.

There is no district high school inside Bluffdale. Riverton High, in Riverton, is the assigned public high school for every address in the city, and the district has not announced any plan to build one here. Its approved 2026-27 boundary changes, passed on 18 November 2025, did not touch Bluffdale at all.

There is a high school building in Bluffdale: Summit Academy High School (9-12, 14942 South 560 West), a tuition-free public charter. It enrolled 599 students across grades 9-12 in 2024-25, with a senior class of 128.

So a Bluffdale family can send a child to high school without leaving the city, but only by choosing the charter.

More charter campuses in town than district schools

Bluffdale has three Jordan District schools inside its limits. It has four charter campuses.

Summit Academy – Bluffdale, PK-6, 1940 West 14400 South. Summit Academy – Independence, PK-8, 15327 South Noell Nelson Drive. Summit Academy High School, 9-12, 14942 South 560 West. North Star Academy, K-9, 2920 West 14000 South, about 522 students.

Those three Summit campuses are three of that charter network’s four; the fourth is in Draper. Together they make a complete K-12 path without leaving Bluffdale. North Star Academy is an entirely separate charter, and it gets left off almost every published list of Bluffdale schools.

There is one private school in the city as well: Mountain Valley School, at 1224 West 16580 South, serving elementary and secondary grades.

Is part of Bluffdale in Alpine School District?

On paper, yes. In practice, no, and it is worth being precise, because at least one page about Bluffdale tells parents the city is served by “Jordan and Alpine School Districts.”

Bluffdale really does cross the county line. The State of Utah carries the city as two separate boundaries, one in each county. The Utah County piece is about 419 acres at the far south end, and Utah County’s own parcel records show 21 parcels there, not one of them a primary residence, with no assessed building square footage at all. When I tested a point inside it against Jordan District’s elementary, middle and high school layers, it returned nothing on all three. The district line and the county line are the same line.

So the honest answer: if you are buying a home in Bluffdale, you are in Jordan School District. Utah County splits into new districts on 1 July 2027, and I have not found a source that names Bluffdale in any of them, which, given there are no houses on that side, is unlikely ever to matter to a buyer. How to check your own address

Attendance boundaries change, and the only answer that counts is the district’s own. Jordan School District publishes an address lookup at boundary.jordandistrict.org. That is the page to check before you buy, not this one.

Questions Bluffdale parents ask me

Which elementary school will my child attend in Bluffdale?

One of three. Bluffdale Elementary covers the west and northwest, Mountain Point Elementary covers the east side and the whole south end, and Riverton Elementary covers a pocket of the far northeast corner, roughly north of 14000 South between about 800 and 1450 West. The dividing line between Bluffdale and Mountain Point is not straight: north of about 14550 South it sits east of Redwood Road, and south of 14600 South it jumps to the west side of it.

Which middle school serves Bluffdale?

Hidden Valley Middle School, at 15410 South Harmon Day Drive, serves every address in the city. It is a 7-9 school, it opened in fall 2020, and it enrolled 935 students in 2024-25.

Does Bluffdale have its own high school?

Not a district one. Riverton High School, in Riverton, is the assigned public high school for every Bluffdale address. There is a high school building in the city, Summit Academy High School at 14942 South 560 West, but it is a public charter, not the neighborhood school.

Which high school serves Bluffdale, Utah?

Riverton High School, 12476 South Silverwolf Way, Riverton. Jordan School District’s own 2026-27 boundary data assigns essentially the entire city to it. Riverton High is a 10-12 school on a 52-acre campus, about a 10 to 15 minute drive from most of Bluffdale, and it enrolled 2,295 students in 2024-25.

Is part of Bluffdale in Alpine School District?

The city boundary crosses into Utah County, which is Alpine School District territory, so on paper yes. But that Utah County portion is about 419 acres with no homes on it — Utah County’s own parcel records show no primary residences there at all. Every Bluffdale homeowner is in Jordan School District.

Is ninth grade middle school or high school in Bluffdale?

Middle school. Jordan School District runs K-6 elementary, 7-9 middle and 10-12 high school. Families moving from Draper, Sandy or Cottonwood Heights come from Canyons District, where ninth grade is high school, so this one surprises people.

What charter schools are in Bluffdale?

Four campuses. Summit Academy has three of them — Bluffdale (PK-6) at 1940 West 14400 South, Independence (PK-8) at 15327 South Noell Nelson Drive, and Summit Academy High School (9-12) at 14942 South 560 West — which together make a complete K-12 path without leaving town. North Star Academy (K-9) at 2920 West 14000 South is a separate charter with about 522 students. There is also one private school, Mountain Valley School, at 1224 West 16580 South.

Is Jordan School District changing Bluffdale’s school boundaries?

Not right now. The board approved its 2026-27 boundary changes on 18 November 2025, and none of them affected Bluffdale — the changes were to the Midas Creek Elementary boundary and a section of Elk Ridge Middle. In a city growing this fast it is a reasonable thing to keep an eye on, and boundary.jordandistrict.org is where the district posts it.
