Which School District Is Draper, Utah In?

South of 12300 South: the Corner Canyon feeder

This is most of Draper — the historic core, Draper Town Center, the east bench, South Mountain and the Salt Lake County side of SunCrest. Every address I checked here runs through Draper Park Middle to Corner Canyon High.

Draper Elementary, 1080 E 12660 South, serves the central band around Town Center and Old Draper. It is a K–5 school and it runs a Chinese (Mandarin) Dual Language Immersion program in grades 1–5, entered through the district’s dual-immersion application rather than by boundary. It is not, despite what you will read elsewhere, a magnet school — Canyons’ only magnet program is SALTA, which is district-wide for advanced learners.

Oak Hollow Elementary, 884 E 14400 South, serves south and east Draper: the Corner Canyon mouth, South Mountain and the Salt Lake County portion of SunCrest. Oak Hollow is a French Dual Language Immersion school.

Willow Springs Elementary, 13288 S Lone Rock Drive (465 East), serves southwest Draper east of I-15.

All three feed Draper Park Middle School, 13133 S 1300 East, grades 6–8, about 1,411 students. It is the only Canyons middle school physically in Draper.

Draper Park Middle feeds Corner Canyon High School, 12943 S 700 East, grades 9–12, with 2,437 students in 2024–25. You will occasionally see Corner Canyon listed as an 8–12 school. Utah’s state data gateway codes every Canyons comprehensive high school that way — Alta, Hillcrest and Brighton too — and the grade-level enrollment shows zero eighth graders at any of them. Corner Canyon is a 9–12 school.

North of 12300 South: the Alta feeder

This is the part that surprises people. There is a strip of Draper running north from about 12300 South to the city line, roughly between I-15 and 1400 East, and it does not feed Corner Canyon at all.

Addresses in that strip feed Sprucewood Elementary, then Indian Hills Middle School, then Alta High School. All three of those schools are in Sandy. It is still Canyons School District and it is still a Draper address — the schools are simply north of the city line.

Corner Canyon’s own published boundary confirms where the line falls: the boundary on the north is 12300 South, and the boundary on the south is the Salt Lake County line. I verified the same line against Canyons District’s current and 2026–27 boundary layers, and it holds across the central band of the city. East of about 1400 East it stops mattering, because Draper’s own city limit falls south of the school boundary there.

If you are buying in north Draper partly for Corner Canyon, this is the single most important thing on this page. Check the address.

Canyons School District’s jurisdiction stops at the county line. Run a Utah County address in Draper against Canyons’ boundary data and it returns nothing at all — that empty result is the district line.

Those homes are in Alpine School District today. On November 5, 2024, Utah County voters approved Proposition 11, which creates a new district from Alpine, American Fork, Cedar Hills, Highland, Lehi and — named specifically in the county’s own public notice — Draper. That district is now called Aspen Peaks School District, and its own website states plainly that it officially opens on July 1, 2027.

Two other districts form out of the same split: Timpanogos, covering Lindon, Orem, Pleasant Grove and Vineyard, and Lake Mountain, covering Cedar Fort, Eagle Mountain, Fairfield and Saratoga Springs. Utah County commissioners approved the boundary maps on March 26, 2025.

What that means if you are buying on the Utah County side of Draper in 2026: you enroll with Alpine, and your district changes on July 1, 2027 without you moving. Boundaries, transfers and bonding all get sorted out by the new board between now and then. Because Alpine does not publish an address-level boundary lookup, I am not going to name which specific Alpine schools serve which SunCrest streets — call the district before you rely on it.

Charter and private schools in Draper

Draper has an unusually deep bench of non-boundary options, and they are a real part of why families land here.

Charter. American Preparatory Academy runs three Draper campuses plus an early learning center: Draper 1 at 12892 S Pony Express Road, grades 1–6, with kindergarten next door at the Early Learning Center at 12894 S Pony Express Road; Draper 2 at 11938 S Lone Peak Parkway, K–6; and Draper 3 at 431 W 11915 South, grades 7–12. Channing Hall, 13515 S 150 East, is K–8 on a Core Knowledge model. Summit Academy’s Draper campus is two buildings on 13200 South, elementary at 1285 East and junior high at 1225 East.

Private. The Skaggs Catholic Center at 300 E 11800 South is a single pre-K–12 campus holding Juan Diego Catholic High School, Saint John the Baptist Catholic Middle School and Saint John the Baptist Catholic Elementary School. It is the largest private school campus in the city.

Two things worth correcting, because they come up constantly: Summit Academy’s high school is in Bluffdale, not Draper, and Challenger School has no Draper campus — the nearest are Sandy and Traverse Mountain in Lehi.

Also coming: Canyons District bought eBay’s former Draper campus at 583 W eBay Way in August 2024 for $50 million, 36 acres and a 240,000-square-foot building, and is converting it into the Canyons Innovation Center, the new home of the district’s Technical Education Center. It is open to high school students district-wide. The opening moved from fall 2026 to August 2027.

Four steps, in this order.

One: find out which county the parcel is in. That decides Canyons versus Alpine before anything else, and on the Traverse Mountain side it is genuinely not obvious — the county line runs through the SunCrest community itself.

Two: if it is Salt Lake County, run the address through Canyons District’s School Finder rather than assuming from the nearest school. North of 12300 South changes the answer completely.

Three: if it is Utah County, call Alpine School District, and ask specifically what the assignment becomes when Aspen Peaks opens on July 1, 2027.

Four: if a charter or Juan Diego is part of the plan, check application and lottery timing before you tie it to a closing date. Boundary schools take you when you move in. Charters do not.

One honest caveat. A narrow strip of far west Draper, west of I-15 around the former prison site, returns a high school assignment in Canyons’ boundary data that does not match the rest of the city and looks like a legacy polygon over land that is largely commercial and under construction. If you are looking at anything out there, do not take a boundary map’s word for it — call the district. As The Point builds housing, that boundary is going to be redrawn anyway.

What school district is Draper, Utah in?

Canyons School District serves the Salt Lake County portion of Draper, which is most of the city. Alpine School District serves the Utah County portion, the SunCrest side of Traverse Mountain, through June 30, 2027, after which that area becomes part of the new Aspen Peaks School District on July 1, 2027.

Do all Draper students go to Corner Canyon High School?

No. Corner Canyon’s boundary runs from 12300 South south to the Salt Lake County line. Draper addresses north of 12300 South feed Sprucewood Elementary, Indian Hills Middle and Alta High School, all located in Sandy. Draper addresses in Utah County are outside Canyons District entirely.

What grades does Corner Canyon High School serve?

Grades 9 through 12. It enrolled 2,437 students in 2024–25. Utah’s state data gateway lists a grade span of 8–12 for Corner Canyon, but it lists the same span for Alta, Hillcrest and Brighton, and grade-level enrollment shows no eighth graders at any of them. Canyons middle schools are 6–8.

Is Draper Elementary a magnet school?
