South Jordan Schools: A Complete Guide to Every School Serving the City
South Jordan is unusual among Salt Lake Valley cities in how simply its schools are organized. The entire city sits inside Jordan School District, and only two high schools take South Jordan students: Bingham High serves the city east and north of Daybreak, and Herriman High serves Daybreak. No part of South Jordan attends Riverton, Mountain Ridge, Copper Hills or West Jordan High.
Two other things set the city apart. Three of its nine elementary schools run state dual language immersion programs, Chinese at Eastlake and Monte Vista and Spanish at Welby. And Daybreak was master-planned with its schools included, so Daybreak Elementary (2005), Golden Fields (2017), Mountain Creek Middle (2019) and Aspen Elementary (2021) opened alongside the rooftops rather than years behind them.
Add five tuition-free public charter schools inside city limits and South Jordan families have more genuine school choice within a ten-minute drive than almost anywhere else in the valley.
One caution before the lists: school boundaries change, and this page cannot tell you which school a specific address feeds. Jordan School District's address lookup can, and it is linked in the FAQ below.

Parent FAQ: Boundaries, Open Enrollment and Home Values
HOW DO SCHOOL BOUNDARIES WORK HERE?
Jordan School District draws an attendance area around each school, and your address places you in exactly one elementary, one middle and one high school boundary. Boundaries follow the district's maps, not ZIP codes or subdivision names, so two homes on the same street can occasionally sit in different areas. The Board of Education votes on changes as neighborhoods fill in, most recently in November 2025.
HOW DO I CHECK WHICH SCHOOLS AN ADDRESS FEEDS?
Use the district's official address lookup at planning.jordandistrict.org/boundaries. Type in the street address and it returns the assigned elementary, middle and high school. This is the only definitive answer; listing and school-rating sites are frequently out of date. If you are buying a home for a specific school, verify the address before you write the offer, and ask me to verify it with you.
CAN MY CHILD ATTEND A SCHOOL OUTSIDE OUR BOUNDARY?
Often, yes. Utah law lets families apply to any public school in any district, space permitting. Jordan District calls this school choice and runs it in phases: early enrollment opens November 15 for the following year and runs through December 31 with priority categories and a lottery, continues January 1 through the first Friday in February on a first-come basis, then moves to late enrollment decided by staffing ratios. Apply at planning.jordandistrict.org/enrollment/schoolchoice. Two notes: popular schools fill in the November window, and open enrollment does not include busing.
HOW DOES SCHOOL CHOICE AFFECT HOME VALUES IN SOUTH JORDAN?
Boundaries still move money here, but less bluntly than in cities with a wider spread between schools.
Because the whole city sits in one district with only two high school feeds, there is no dramatic district-line premium. The meaningful line is Bingham versus Herriman, and it matters most to families set on a specific program, team or peer group.
Homes near a boundary edge are the ones to watch. Around 4000-4300 West at the Daybreak edge, a boundary review can change which high school a home feeds. That is a real risk for a buyer who paid for one, and a real question a listing agent should be ready to answer.
The immersion elementaries, Eastlake, Monte Vista and Welby, draw buyers shopping the program rather than the address, which supports demand in those areas.
Five in-city charters cut both ways. They give families a route that does not require buying into a boundary, but charter seats are a lottery rather than a guarantee, so most buyers still treat the boundary school as their floor.
If you are weighing two homes in different boundaries, the resale difference is usually smaller than buyers expect and the daily-life difference is usually larger. Send me the addresses and I will verify each boundary assignment and pull comparable sales on both sides of the line.
